National recognition for squadron website

13 Aug 2014

Sugar Valley’s website was recognized with the Award of Excellence by judges in the Civil Air Patrol’s Balsem Award competition during the 2014 National Public Affairs Officer Academy in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Tuesday, August 12, 2014. The awards event was held as part of CAP’s 2014 National Conference.

The awards recognize exceptional presentation of the message of the Civil Air Patrol across a variety of media: brochures, crisis communication, events, external media coverage, magazines, photography, presentations, social media, and, of course, websites.

Sugar Valley’s website is a group effort: Lt Col Eric Orgain manages hosting and provided the template; Maj Matthew Phillips created the graphic identity and produced much of the site’s content; 2d Lt Deborah Leighton contributes photography; and 2d Lt Joanna White, 1st Lt Lee Kosub, and other members of the squadron, including a number of cadets, have written articles that appear on the site and in local media. If you are interested in contributing, visit the contact page: new stories are what makes the site a great resource for the squadron and the community.
